SHIFT LLC ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by SHIFT LLC.
This Privacy Notice applies to our website at pdf2md.dev (also reachable at pdf2md.huskyhaul.online) and its associated subdomains (collectively, our "Service") alongside our application, PDF to Markdown. By accessing or using our Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Notice and our Terms of Service.
Definitions and key terms
To help explain things as clearly as possible in this Privacy Notice, every time any of these terms are referenced, they are strictly defined as:
- Cookie: a small amount of data generated by a website and saved by your web browser. It is used to identify your browser, provide analytics, and remember information about you such as your language preference or login information.
- Company: when this notice mentions "Company," "we," "us," or "our," it refers to SHIFT LLC, 5, street 17, Argel, Nor Hachn, Kotayk region, 2404, RA, which is responsible for your information under this Privacy Notice.
- Customer: refers to the company, organization or person that signs up to use the PDF to Markdown Service.
- Device: any internet connected device such as a phone, tablet, computer or any other device that can be used to visit PDF to Markdown and use the Service.
- IP address: every device connected to the Internet is assigned a number known as an Internet protocol (IP) address. These numbers are usually assigned in geographic blocks. An IP address can often be used to identify the location from which a device is connecting to the Internet.

- Personal Data: any information that directly, indirectly, or in connection with other information allows for the identification or identifiability of a natural person.

What Information Do We Collect?
We collect information from you when you visit our website, create an account, convert documents, or purchase a subscription. Depending on how you use the Service, this may include:
- Account information when you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account.
- Device identity: a cryptographic key pair and device identifier generated in your browser to secure requests and manage your conversion queue, including for anonymous use without an account.
- Documents and results: the PDF files you upload (or the URLs you submit) and the converted Markdown, processed only to perform the conversion and made available for you to download.
- Billing information when you purchase a subscription: your email and the order/subscription details. Card numbers are entered on, and handled by, our billing provider and payment processor; we do not collect or store full card numbers on our servers.
- Usage and technical data: log data, IP address, browser/device type and first-party analytics events about how the Service is used.
We do not ask you for, or collect, phone numbers or account passwords; sign-in is handled by Google.
Connectivity checks. When our servers appear unreachable, the browser extension performs anonymous connectivity checks (lightweight reachability requests to our own domain and to a small set of well-known public hosts) solely to tell you whether the problem is your internet connection or restricted access to our host (for example, where a network or region blocks our hosting provider). These checks send no personal data, files, credentials or cookies, and their results are shown only to you and are not stored.
How Do We Use The Information We Collect?
Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:
- To provide and operate the Service (convert your documents, manage your queue and slots).
- To personalize your experience and respond to your individual needs.
- To improve the Service based on the information and feedback we receive from you.
- To improve customer service and respond to your support requests.
- To process transactions and manage your subscription.
- To send service-related communications about your account, orders or important changes.
When does SHIFT LLC use end user information from third parties?
SHIFT LLC will collect End User Data necessary to provide the SHIFT LLC services to our customers. When you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) from Google in accordance with the permissions you grant.
When does SHIFT LLC use customer information from third parties?
We receive some information from third parties when you contact us or transact with us. For example, our billing provider and payment processor share order and subscription status with us so we can activate and manage your plan.
Do we share the information we collect with third parties?
We engage trusted third-party service providers to perform functions and provide services to us, such as hosting and maintaining our servers and the website, database storage and management, our billing provider and payment processing, and customer support. We share with these third parties only the information needed to enable them to perform these services for us and for you.
We may also disclose personal and non-personal information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to respond to claims and legal process, to protect our rights and interests or those of a third party, the safety of the public or any person, to prevent or stop any illegal, unethical, or legally actionable activity, or to otherwise comply with applicable court orders, laws, rules and regulations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your documents for advertising or to train models.
Where and when is information collected from customers and end users?
SHIFT LLC will collect personal information that you submit to us. We may also receive personal information about you from third parties (such as Google sign-in and our billing provider) as described above.
How Do We Use Your Email Address?
We use your email address to operate your account, process your orders, and send service-related communications about your subscription and the Service. We only send commercial emails to people who have authorized us to contact them, and we include unsubscribe instructions in such emails. We do not sell or rent your email address.
How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
Uploaded files and converted results are stored only as long as needed to finish the conversion and let you download them, then deleted automatically after your tier's retention window (about one hour on the free tier, longer on paid tiers); you can also delete any job manually at any time. Account and billing records are kept for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service and meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations. When we no longer need information, we remove it or depersonalize it.
How Do We Protect Your Information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. All communication with the Service uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Sensitive payment information is transmitted to, and handled by, our billing provider and payment processor and is not kept on our servers. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the absolute security of any information you transmit to SHIFT LLC or guarantee that your information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by a breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
Could my information be transferred to other countries?
Information collected via our website, through direct interactions with you, or from use of our help services may be transferred from time to time to our offices or personnel, or to third parties, located throughout the world, and may be viewed and hosted anywhere in the world, including countries that may not have laws of general applicability regulating the use and transfer of such data. To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, by using the Service, you voluntarily consent to the trans-border transfer and hosting of such information.
Is the information collected through the Service secure?
We take precautions to protect the security of your information. We have physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to help safeguard, prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use your information. However, neither people nor security systems are foolproof, including encryption systems. While we use reasonable efforts to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Can I update or correct my information?
You can contact us to (1) update or correct your personal information, (2) change your preferences with respect to communications you receive from us, or (3) delete the personal information maintained about you on our systems by closing your account. Some information may remain in backup copies for a period of time, or where we are required to retain it to comply with our legal obligations. Promptly after receiving your request, personal information stored in databases we actively use will be updated, corrected, changed or deleted, as appropriate, as soon as and to the extent reasonably and technically practicable.
Sale of Business
We reserve the right to transfer information to a third party in the event of a sale, merger or other transfer of all or substantially all of the assets of SHIFT LLC or any of its Corporate Affiliates, or in the event that we discontinue our business or file or have filed against us a petition in bankruptcy, reorganization or similar proceeding, provided that the third party agrees to adhere to the terms of this Privacy Notice.
Affiliates
We may disclose information (including personal information) about you to our Corporate Affiliates. For purposes of this Privacy Notice, "Corporate Affiliate" means any person or entity which directly or indirectly controls, is controlled by or is under common control with SHIFT LLC. Any information relating to you that we provide to our Corporate Affiliates will be treated by those Corporate Affiliates in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Notice.
Governing Law
This Privacy Notice is governed by the laws of the Republic of Armenia, where SHIFT LLC is registered. By using the Service or contacting us directly, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Notice. If you do not agree to this Privacy Notice, you should not engage with our website or use our Service.
Your Consent
By using the Service, registering an account, or making a purchase, you hereby consent to this Privacy Notice and agree to its terms.
Links to Other Websites
This Privacy Notice applies only to the Service. The Service may contain links to other websites not operated or controlled by SHIFT LLC. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or opinions expressed in such websites. Please remember that when you use a link to go from the Service to another website, our Privacy Notice is no longer in effect. Your browsing and interaction on any other website is subject to that website's own rules and policies.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar browser storage to operate the Service: a session cookie and a small readable hint cookie to keep you signed in, and local storage / IndexedDB to hold your device key pair and preferences. These are used to provide and secure the Service rather than for advertising. Most web browsers can be set to block or delete cookies and similar storage; doing so may prevent parts of the Service from working (for example, staying signed in). We never place Personally Identifiable Information in cookies.
Payment Details
In respect of any card or other payment processing details you provide, these are handled by our billing provider and payment processor (which acts as the merchant of record). We commit that any such information passing through us is stored in the most secure manner possible; full card numbers are not kept on our servers.
Kids' Privacy
We do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
Changes To Our Privacy Notice
We may modify this Privacy Notice at any time to reflect changes in our services, policies, or legal requirements. The updated Privacy Notice will be posted with the revised effective date, which will indicate when the changes take effect. By continuing to use our Service after the effective date, you agree to the updated Privacy Notice.
Third-Party Services
We may display, include or make available third-party content or provide links to third-party websites or services ("Third-Party Services"). You acknowledge and agree that SHIFT LLC shall not be responsible for any Third-Party Services, including their accuracy, completeness, timeliness, validity, legality, decency, quality or any other aspect thereof. Third-Party Services and links thereto are provided solely as a convenience to you, and you access and use them entirely at your own risk and subject to such third parties' terms and conditions.
Information about General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
We may be collecting and using information from you if you are from the European Economic Area (EEA). GDPR is an EU-wide privacy and data protection law that regulates how EU residents' data is protected and enhances the control EU residents have over their personal data. We apply GDPR-aligned controls as a baseline standard for our operations.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, object to, and request deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us through our Support page. We process personal data only for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice and keep it no longer than necessary for those purposes or as required to meet our legal obligations.
California Residents
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) requires us to disclose categories of Personal Information we collect and how we use it, the categories of sources, and the third parties with whom we share it, which we have explained above. California residents may exercise the following rights: the right to know and access the Personal Information we collect, use or share; the right to equal service (we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights); and the right to delete the Personal Information we have collected. We do not sell the Personal Information of our users. If you make a request, we have one month to respond. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our Support page.
